Brazilian companies seize green bonds appetite, but national legislation remains underused

The global market for green, sustainability and social bonds is expected to reach 1 trillion dollars in 2024, according to a report by S&P. Brazilian companies are taking advantage of the window of opportunity. 

Recently, Raízen issued a 1.5 billion dollars green bond which met 8.8 billion dollars in demand.

FS, a company that also produces ethanol, but from corn, likewise issued a 550 million dollars in green bonds. The Chilean company CMPC, with forestry assets and plants in Brazil, also tapped the market with a 500 million green bond issuance.
