“There’s no disruption here,” warns Fernando Meira as he carefully works out the answer to a question at the start of the hour-plus conversation in a meeting room on the eighth floor of Pinheiro Neto Advogados’s São Paulo headquarters.

In front of him, Alexandre Bertoldi, who held Meira’s position for the last 14 years, nods — after all, he says he agrees “99.9% of the time” with his successor.
